SPC Frank E. Pedras III was born October 30th, 1987 in Atwater, CA, the son of CAPT Frank E. Pedras, Jr., and Karen Pedras.  He grew up as part of a military family living mostly in Sonoma and Marin counties in California and four years living in Illinois near St. Louis, Missouri.  After graduating from San Antonio High School in Petaluma, CA, he enlisted in the Army in Turlock, CA on October 6th, 2010 under the Delayed Entry Program with an effective date of service on March 7th, 2011.  SPC Pedras attended Basic Training at Ft. Jackson, SC, and Advanced Individual Training at Ft. Sam Houston, TX where he graduated as a Health Care Specialist.    

SPC Pedras was assigned to the 28th Combat Support Hospital on October 13th, 2011, where he served as a Litter Bearer and Health Care Specialist for Bravo Company and soon became trained as a Unit Armorer and Brigade Combat Trauma Team Specialist.   SPC Pedras also played a significant role on the 28th CSH Provisional Team while the majority of Bravo Company was deployed.  Showing his love of sports, he was also a team player outside of work and played on the unit Softball team.  He was a fierce competitor and completely dedicated to his unit and the United States Army.        

SPC Pedras awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal (posthumous), the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service medal, the Army Service Ribbon and a Certificate of Achievement for his selfless service and significant contributions to the 28th CSH 2013 Fall Festival. 

He is survived by his father, CAPT Frank E. Pedras, Jr., his mother, Karen Pedras, his brother Dominic Pedras and his sister Rebecca Pedras. Maternal Grandparents- Dennison & Pauline Parolini of Turlock, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents- Frank & Hazel Pedras

Services: Visitation- 2:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias, Funeral Chapel, 286 W. Main St., Turlock, CA.

Funeral Service- 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias, Funeral Chapel, 286 W. Main St., Turlock, CA. Burial following the service to Turlock Memorial Park, 575 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock, California.
