Hilda (Bettencourt) Marson

Hilda (Bettencourt) Marson entered into her eternal reward on Wednesday at her home with her family at her bedside.  She was born in Hilmar to Manuel and Mary Bettencourt and lived on the family dairy her entire life. She graduated from Hilmar High School in 1944. She worked for Souza’s Propane and Furniture store while attending college to get her bachelor’s degree in Education. 
After graduating she taught school at Fairview School in Hilmar for three years before meeting the love of her life, Gerald Marson. They were married in 1949.
She is survived by children, Dennis of Caldwell, Idaho, Diane Hatton of Coulterville, Deborah Fuller of Coulterville, Delise Martella-Sprigg of Rochester, N.Y. and Duane and Dan Marson, both of Hilmar; 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald in 1979; son, Donald in 2002; and brother, David Bettencourt in 2004.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir and taught catechism for many years. She was a charter member of Y.L.I. of Holy Rosary. 
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at Allen Mortuary, with recitation of the Rosary starting at 7 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in
Hilmar, with interment to follow at Hilmar Cemetery.
