James Edward Sweeten
January 1976 March 21, 2011
Sweeten
James Sweeten, 35, of Turlock, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday. He was born in Gilroy to Roy and Mary “Helen” Sweeten. He grew up and went to school in Morgan Hill. As a teen he discovered he had Huntington ’s disease, which limited his mobility throughout his adult life. James loved fishing – in rivers, lakes or wherever he could find enough water. He was also a great fan of the Oakland Raiders. He enjoyed hanging out with his cousins and playing video games. He enjoyed the fellowship of the youth and people of the Turlock Freewill Baptist Church. James had a great sense of humor. He had a quick wit and would respond with funny “one-liners.” His family and friends will truly miss him.

James is survived by his grandparents, James W. and Mary Ann Sweeten of Turlock; his father, Roy Sweeten of Turlock; sister, Michelle (Mike) Berbena of Modesto; nieces and nephews, Chris, Nina, Vincente and Mari; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary “Helen” Uribe Sweeten.

Visitation is scheduled for James from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 27 at Allen Mortuary. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 28 at Allen Mortuary. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions are encouraged for the Huntington ’s Disease Society of America, 505 Eighth Ave., New York, NY 10001.
