A funeral for John Lee “Buddy” Atris Jr., 58 of Merced, will be held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 2 at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery. He passed away at Mercy Medical Center on Sept. 13.
John was born in Tennessee in May 1951 to John (Sr.) and Emma Artis. John enlisted in the Army after high school. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant.
John lived in the Bay Area for several years and settled in the Modesto area about 10 years ago. He loved fishing and baseball, especially the Texas Rangers. Please leave memories at www.allenmortuary.com.
