Joy Wilson, 79, of Turlock passed away surrounded by her children and extended family. Born in Mountain View, CA to the late Francis and Marjorie Williamson, Joy grew up and attended school in Mountain View and worked at the local drug store.

In 1952, she met her soulmate Melvin Guy Wilson Sr., at the San Jose skating rink and married the following year. In Newark, CA they raised four children: Barbara Hicks of Lodi, CA; Vickie Shirley of Acampo, CA; Melvin Wilson Jr. of Modesto; and Charles Wilson of Ripon.

Joy enjoyed sewing/quilting, gardening, family dinners and gatherings, playing cards/dominoes, camping, movies/popcorn, bible study, and volunteering at church. In 1985, Mel and Joy moved to Arnold and truly enjoyed the mountains and critters. In 2010, they moved to Ceres and Turlock and became a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Joy was a follower of Jesus Christ and joins her soulmate Mel in heaven.

Joy is survived by four children; brother Dustin Williamson of San Jose, CA; sister-in-laws Georgia Wilson of Turlock, Annie Williamson of Fortuna, CA, Kathy Williamson of San Jose, CA; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

One of the biggest “joys” in her life was becoming a grandparent. Joy embraced these years and thoroughly enjoyed time with grandkids including trips to Santa Cruz Beach and Boardwalk.

Although she departs for a journey to eternal life, Joy bestows a legacy of love, kindness, and faith.

Service to be held at Calvary Baptist Church 700 E Monte Vista Ave Turlock on Friday 2/26/16 at 11:30am.
