June Johnson, 88, of Turlock, passed away at home after a long illness. June was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Samuel and Merle Hawker. She graduated from Glenwood, Iowa High School at age 16. She attended business college in Omaha, then moved with her mother to Glendale California. At age 19 she placed her faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior and then attended Biola College where she received her Bachelors’ and LVN Nursing Degrees. She met Al Johnson while they were doing beach evangelism at Hermosa Beach. They were married in 1953. June and Al spent 39 years as missionaries in Venezuela and the San Diego / Tijuana area. They retired and settled in Turlock in 1997. She has been able to focus on being a homemaker and grandmother since that time.

June was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Earle Hawker. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Rev. Al Johnson, 3 children: Lynne (Ron) Schmidt of Modesto, Mark (Ronalee) Johnson of Turlock, and Luisa (Jon) Carlson of Turlock, and 6 grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Allen Mortuary on Tues, Dec 9th from 4 to 6 pm. Memorial Service will be on Wed, Dec. 10th, 11 am, at Crossroads Church, 1360 N. Johnson Road, Turlock.
