Manuel Mendes Cota, 84, of Hilmar, died Jan. 22. He was a bartender for 36 years and a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church of Turlock. 

He is survived by his wife, Noemia dos Milagres Mancebo Cota of Hilmar; sons, Joaquim Francisco Cota and his wife, Lania, of Brasil and Manuel Jose Cota and his wife, Nazare, of Oregon; daughters, Maria Noemia Cota Pereira of Brasil, Maria Nair Dinis of Hilmar and Margaret M. Cota of Brasil; grandchildren,  Glaucio Cota, Kamila Pereira Camara, Mariana Cota and Amanda Cota; several cousins and nieces and nephews.

Services were held. Burial will be at North Hilmar District Cemetery.
