Opal Gibson passed away peacefully at Brandel Manor nursing home on Sept. 13. She was born to Martha and Harry Commons in Turlock in 1916. She graduated from Turlock High School. She operated a day care out of her home in Turlock for many years.
Opal is survived by one sister, Irma Linhares and her, husband, Joe; her children, Richard Gibson and his wife, Jill, of Modesto, Dolores Motsinger and her husband, Jim, of Redding and Marilyn Switzer and her husband, Bob, of Fair Oaks; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Everett Gibson, known as “Gibby;” and two of her sisters, Faye Gustavson and Myrtle Dick.
A graveside service was held on Friday at Lakewood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
