Robert was born to George and Florence Voight on March 14th 1932.  He was raised in Merced CA where his father sold automotive and aircraft Parts.  He attended Merced Elementary and Jr. High Schools.

In the late 40’s Robert moved to his families cattle ranch East of Denair where he worked with his father.  He attended Hughson High School and discovered his love for sports.  He lettered in baseball, basketball, football and track.

After graduating from Hughson High Robert attended Modesto Jr. College.  In 1951 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.  He served 4 years during the Korean War and was stationed in England where he served as an aircraft mechanic.

After the service Robert returned to his family’s ranch where he was married and started his family.  He helped his father grow the ranch into the feed and grain business as well as almonds.

During the recession of late 60’s the family’s ranch fell on hard times. Robert was forced to relocate his family to Turlock where he worked and lived out the remainder of his life.

Robert was an active member of the Montpelier Volunteer Fire Department, the Denair Lions Club and the Modesto Elks Lodge. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed City and Travel Leagues.

Robert leaves behind his son Brian (Sherrie) of Sandy OR, his daughter Deborah (Aben) Williams of Turlock, 5 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Allen Mortuary.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Robert’s memory to Turlock VFW 5059, 1405 E. Linwood Avenue Turlock, CA 95380.  Please share your memories at www.AllenMortuary.com.
