Roger Hughes passed away Saturday at age 66.  He’s predeceased by his father Paul Hughes, and his brothers Myke and Steve Hughes.

Roger is lovingly remembered by his mother Tommie Hughes; sister Cindy Hughes-Garcia (Billy); daughters Lisa Smith and Julie Mitchell; sons Kenny Hughes and Kevin Hughes; grandchildren Candice Mitchell, Caslynn Tickel, Ian Mercurio, and Audie Blades, and great-grandchildren Belle Crismon and Sariyah Mercurio.

Born in Hanford, Roger moved with his family to Turlock in 1954 where he graduated from Turlock High School in 1968.  He then served in the army as a drill sergeant.

Roger ran the family business, Paul Hughes Chevron, where all the clients were greeted with the famous Hughes Smile and where many friendships were made.  After making an impact and learning the ropes there, Roger then opened his own business, Hughes Car Care, where he continued to carry on the family name with hard work, as well as genuine and quality care to all his customers.

Roger always helped other people before worrying about himself.  He enjoyed fishing, camping, and trips to Carson City playing the slots one quarter at a time.  And more than anything he enjoyed spending time with his family.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Mon., Apr. 17, at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock.
