Stephen Smink, 69, of Riverbank, passed away at Avalon Care Center in Modesto. He was born in Hagerstowns, Md. to Earl and Ellenor Smink in 1940.
Stephen lived in Clearwater, Fla. from 1950 to 1962, and in 1963, he moved to California to become a cowboy. Stephen moved back to Florida in 1980, and then to Texas to restart his rodeo career in 1981. Stephen moved to Oakdale in 1982, and was a bodybuilder, cowboy and a horseshoer. He also made saddles. In 1993, he retired and moved to Riverbank. Stephen’s passions were rodeo, golf and archery.
Most of all, he loved his family.
He will be missed by all who know him.
Stephen is survived by his children, Joseph Earl Smink of Riverbank and RaeEllen Sweeten of Denair; six grandchildren; and Lottie Smink, to which he was married for 38 years. Stephen is preceded in death by three siblings.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. on Feb. 24 at Allen Mortuary.
