Steve Lindberg Allen, 86, of Turlock, CA passed away at his residence on August 12, 2015. Steve was born in 1929 in Sonora, Guaymas, Mexico to Jewel and Teresa Allen. The family had come back into the U.S. when Steve was 16 years old. It was the highlight of his life to know he was a U.S. citizen, but also a bittersweet moment to love Mexico as well because it had never left his heart.

Steve attended Jefferson High School from 1945 – 1947 where he played football in 11th grade. He was inducted into the U.S. Army in November of 1950 where he served as an MP in Honolulu, HI and left with an honorable discharge in October of 1952 to return to his job with Foster Freeze Milk Co. in Los Angeles.

Steve married Irene Aguinga on August 14, 1949 and together they had five children. As a father he worked hard at his job and on their ranch in Livingston, CA, where he also owned a country grocery store. His main occupation was pasteurizing for Foster Freeze Milk Co. in Ripon, CA. Irene passed away in 2001.

His hobbies were horseback riding, and a love of singing. He sang some of his favorite songs with mariachis, sang on the radio, and even recorded several records.

But his greatest accomplishments were serving with several of the Catholic churches in Merced and Stanislaus counties, along with service in the Knights of Columbus. He served along with his son, George, in Operation Rescue in the 1990s, and continued to work in pro-life ministries up until the present day. He stood up for those that had no voice because theirs was taken from them. All the while Steve and his second wife Francisca would make trips to Mexico to bring clothing and love to the poor. He also served at Allen Mortuary saying rosaries for many families. He spoke on the radio about the things he loved. He will leave a big hole in the hearts of many, but it is God’s purpose that we glorify him, and some of his legacy is exactly that.

“For the Lord himself will descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of an Archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.” (I Thess. 4:16,17)

Steve is survived by his wife Francisca Morales, who had 9 children prior to their marriage, along with many grandchildren; his sons and daughters: George Allen, Linda Estherly, Ardall Allen, and Robert Allen; his 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and his two sisters Ruth Rosales and Mary Francis Losto and their families. He was preceded in death by his daughter Patricia Burnett, affectionately known as Patsy, and his wife Irene.

Funeral Mass on Fri., Aug. 21 at 12:00pm,  at Sacred Heart, followed by burial at Turlock Memorial Park.
