Vera was born in 1919 to William and Mary Butler and passed away at the age of 97 in Turlock.  She worked for 20 years as a secretary to the city manager and elected city clerk for the City of Turlock.  Vera was a seamstress and was a member of the T-birds at Turlock Golf and Country Club.  She had attended St. Francis Episcopal Church since 1964 where she sang in the choir, participated in the alter guild, was a vestryman and senior warden.  

She is survived by her children Nedra Voorhees, Beryl (John) Simkins, Janet Sahlstrom and Jeffrey (Sandra) Sahlstrom; grandchildren Paul Voorhees, Kevin Voorhees, Jonathan Voorhees, Lynn Kirkes, Mark Kirkes, Evan Sahlstrom, Zachary Sahlstrom, Mary Ann Sahlstrom, Nadine Sahlstrom and Jennifer Sahlstrom; and seven great grandchildren. 

Vera was preceded in death by her husband Hubert Sahlstrom; son Stephen Sahlstrom; siblings Nedra Butler, Nelson Butler and Ivan Butler; and son in law Albert Voorhees.
