Wilfred “Fritz” Marson, 94, of Turlock passed away on Sunday, Jan. 2 at home with his family at his side. He was born in Shickley, Neb. to John and Mary Marson in 1916. In the late 40s, Wilfred moved to Turlock and lived here since then. He met Caroline Brown in the Sacred Heart choir, and they married in 1959. They celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in October. Wilfred was a mechanic and welder by trade. He worked for Texeira’s Service and later became the proprietor. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and music. Wilfred was a handyman; if it was broken he could fix it. God and family were his life.

Wilfred is survived by his wife, Caroline; children, John (Anna) Marson of Hilmar and Mary Jones, Bill (Suzanne) Marson and Bob (Aleece) Marson, all of Turlock, Angela (Billy) Byrd of Waterford, and Teresa (Jeff) Dykzeul of Oakdale; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by seven siblings.

Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 12 noon to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 6 at Allen Mortuary, with a Rosary following. A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 7 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
