The Turlock High boys’ varsity water polo team continues to win.

The Bulldogs are now 4-1 in the Central California Conference after pulling off a close 7-5 win over Buhach Colony on Wednesday on the road.

“It was a very strong defensive effort from both teams,” said Turlock head coach Manny Bettencourt. “They were the best team defensively that we have played all year.”

Turlock was led by senior captains Mykel Garton and Kyle White.

Garton tallied five steals for the game along with a pair of goals while White added seven saves including a goal.

Turlock scored first and never let go of the lead for the remainder of the game, however, never led by more than two goals until late in the fourth.

At that point, the Bulldogs led 4-2 going into the fourth before they went up 7-3.

Eventually the game ended in a two-goal run for BC but time ran out for any attempt at a comeback.

Turlock's Matthew Hesse also had a great game on defense, tallying six of the teams 19 steals. Gabe Sleeper, Dylan Bernardi each had two goals and Christian Weaver added one.
