Bulldogs extend undefeated record
Turlock to battle unbeaten league foe Merced next week

As the weeks and games go by, the Turlock High baseball team is beginning to look more and more like an unstoppable force.The latest evidence of this came Thursday afternoon at the Bulldogs’ own baseball field, where they powered through with another win. This time, it a 4-1 triumph over Buhach Colony High in Central California Conference action, improving Turlock’s league record to 2-0 to go along with an undefeated mark of 8-0.The Bulldogs’ schedule gets more difficult, however.Next up is a series against Merced High, as Turlock hosts the first game at 4 p.m. Tuesday before traveling to Merced at 4 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears and Pitman High are the only other league teams with 2-0 records.The Pride beat Golden Valley 10-0 and 11-2 this week.For the Bulldogs, they’ve won with a combination of good pitching and timely hitting. On Thursday, sophomore Nick Voumard threw another impressive outing with six shutout innings to finish the day with a 3-0 record.The Bulldogs provided one run in the third, two in the fourth and another one in the sixth, with Ryan Cumberland finishing with a double, James Heller going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI and Jeremy McDonald collecting a pair of RBIs.Dylan Silva came in the seventh for the save.To contact Chhun Sun, e-mail csun@turlockjournal.com or call 634-9141 ext. 2041.
