Finally, the Cal State Stanislaus men’s basketball got one. A win, that is.

In the finale of the Lamonth Ramsey Classic in Atheron, the Warriors came away with a victory. And they had to do it in dramatic fashion, edging out host Menlo College with a 65-64 thriller on Saturday afternoon, thanks to a 21-point performance from Evan Scott.

Stanislaus is now 1-2 after losing the California Collegiate Athletic Association opener to Chico State and the Ramsey Classic opener to Westmont on Friday afternoon.

The Warriors get back into conference action Friday night at 7:30 p.m., when they host Sonoma State.

Against Menlo College, the Warriors played without Reggie Jones and Frank Monge, who’s been nursing a hurt ankle. Even so, Stanislaus had enough help in this game, with Scott leading the Warriors in scoring for the second consecutive time. The Columbia College transfer went 5-for-11 from the floor with three 3-pointers and converted eight of nine free throws.

Marcus Lever chipped in 14 points, and Dan Daviess added 13.
