The Cal State Stanislaus volleyball team was defeated in four sets (25-20, 22-25, 17-25, 15-25) Friday night in a California Collegiate Athletic Association match against No. 24 Cal State Monterey Bay.

The Warriors are now 9-6, 6-4 in the CCAA.  The Otters improve to 11-2, 8-2 in conference play.

Starting out strong in set one, the Warriors took an 11-2 lead over the Otters.  CSUMB made a strong attempt to fight back, but were unable to finish above the Warriors.  The Otters brought their momentum from the end of set one to the next one as they had an 11-3 run.  The Warriors battled the entire second set and just fell short due to the strong offensive plays by Cal State Monterey Bay.

In the final two sets the Otters seemed to have dominated the court.

Lianne Vicchio led the Warriors with 14 kills.  Eva Chafeh and Kaycee Gow each recorded 8 kills.  Melissa Bishop and Andrea Fett also contributed a great deal with 7 kills apiece.

Blocking was a strong part of Friday's game as both teams recorded 9 team blocks on the night.  Bishop led with 5 block assists and one solo for the Warriors.  Gow and Fett each had 4 blocks.

Rheann Fall led the Otters with 20 kills, followed by Melanie Lashbrook with 12 kills.  Monique Sena led her team with 33 assists.

The Warriors will next host San Francisco State next at 7 p.m. today.
