All-California Collegiate Athletic Association relief pitcher and Cal State Stanislaus junior Leonard Giammanco can add another award to his trophy case as the righty was named to the Nation Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All-Region Team on Wednesday.
Giammanco, a right-handed set-up man/closer for the Warriors, led all relievers with a low ERA of 2.18 during CCAA games. He was also 2-0 with three saves and had 30 strikeouts in 45 1/3 innings. In all games, Giammanco led the Warriors with a 2.05 ERA and would have led the conference but was 2/3 of an inning shy of qualifying.
No. 1 ranked UC San Diego swept the top awards with Brandon Gregorich and Matt Rossman earning Player and Pitcher of the Year awards, respectively. UCSD coach Dan O'Brien was named coach of the year.
