Thursday marked the final league match for boys golf in the Central California Athletic League between Turlock and Pitman High and the anticipation was big for two of the top teams in league.
A well-known rivalry, head coach Jason Boswell and his Turlock Bulldogs came out on top over Matt Jeans’ Pitman Pride after the score read 428-472 from the Turlock Golf and Country Club.
“We beat Pitman after a good performance. We should now move on as a team because most likely we will finish in second behind Gregori,” said Boswell.
The Bulldogs of Turlock finished with a team score of 428.
Keean Young had the lowest round of the day with an 83.
Estevan Lopez and Paul Envia shot an 85, respectively. Fletcher Bacon and Elias Rabine shot an 88 and Miles Harp finished with an 87.
“We are going into the CCAL league tournament in third place,” said Jeans.
Pitman is also 3-2 in CCAL play, having lost to only Gregori and Turlock.
The Pride are looking like they will advance four guys to Divisionals in Davis.
Those four include Conner Cook, Marcus Hawley, Steven Bishop and Derek Nevarez.
The lowest round of the day for the Pride came from Marcus Hawley who finished the afternoon with a 92.
Pitman’s No. 1 Conner Cook shot a 94. Derek Nevarez and Steven Bishop shot a 93, respectively. Craig Malech (100) and Tommy Husselstein (103) followed.
As a team, Pitman shot 472.
The CCAL Tournament Championship is taking place from Dryden in Modesto at 9 a.m. April 30.
