Three Turlock High track and field athletes will compete today at the Nike Indoor Nationals at the famed Armory Track and Field Center in New York City.
Pole vaulter Max McFarlane, sprinter and high-jumper Olivia Walker, and distance runner Maya Day will be among 4,100 high school athletes on hand at The Armory, long regarded as the one of the most prestigious indoor track venues in the world.
McFarlane, who finished second in the state last year in the pole vault, will compete in the Championship flight, while Walker will take part in the Emerging Elite level. Day will compete in the Freshman division’s 1,600-meter race.
Located north of Columbia University, The Armory, which serves as the Lions' home track, is also the home to the National Track and Field Hall of Fame and the Police Athletic League of New York City.
The Outdoor Nationals will be held in Eugene, Ore., in June.
