In the last two years Turlock High has only taken two wrestlers to the State Tournament but this year the Bulldogs will be four strong in Bakersfield. After a season that saw Turlock record 25 straight dual wins and place fifth at Masters, the Bulldogs are now in a position to walk away with multiple state medals, despite the fact they entered this season with no state returners.

Jason Valdovinos (113 pounds) is ranked 40th in sections with a record of 40-14 on the year. Last year Valdovinos placed eighth at Masters as a sophomore.

Isaac Bertalotto (138 pounds) is only the third freshman to advance to the State Tournament in Turlock’s history. He received an honorable mention for his success this year with a record of 44-10. Bertalotto also placed first at two tournaments this year.

Erick Parsons (182 pounds) made his senior year count, racking up an impressive record of 40-4, including five first place tournament finishes, which helped him land 20th in section rankings. Parsons placed third in last week’s Masters Tournament giving him a good position in the state bracket.

Ernesto Guiang (220 pounds) is ranked 27th in sections and has accumulated a 35-12 record in his junior year. Guiang finished at the top spot in four tournaments this year.

Valdovinos, Bertalotto, Parsons, and Guiang will begin wrestling on Friday and continue into Saturday.
