Turlock Youth Football opened the 2013 season with the Vikings hosting the Manteca Jaguars and the 49ers traveling to Ceres to take on the Seahawks.

At the Rookie level, scores are not recorded as the focus is more on teaching the kids skill and the rules of the game, though both teams did very well against their opponents.  The Vikings rocked the Jaguars with wins at all levels.  The Pee Wee team shut down the Jaguars 44-0, JV outscored the Jaguars 34-13, and the varsity won with a 3- 8 victory against the Jaguars.

With very little time left on the clock, the Pee Wee 49ers attempted a final drive that was intercepted by the Seahawks ending the game with a of 7-19 loss against the Seahawks.  The JV squad came back to win with a 14-8 lead over the Seahawks, while varsity shut out the Seahawks 28-0.

Highlights from the varsity 49er level include, Gabriel Melton running a QB TD for 55 yards; Mark Flores scoring on a 1-yard run; and Cameron Moore gaining two TDs on runs of 45 yards and 67 yards each, respectively.  Daniel Warda completed 3 of 4 point after kicks.

Next week both teams will be on the road. The Vikings will travel to Oakdale to take on the mighty Stampede and the 49ers will travel to Merced to take on the Bears.  For more information, visit www.Turlockyouthfootball.org.
