The Little League District 73 tournaments are well underway this July, with four local All-Star teams already having lifted the coveted championship banners.

TALL Seniors punch ticket to sections

One of the first postseason tournaments to get underway this summer were the Little League Baseball Seniors, with the Turlock American Little League (TALL) All-Star team winning the District 73 championship.

The TALL seniors clinched the title after sweeping the Turlock National Little League all-stars in a doubleheader on June 20 by 7-1 and 14-6 scores.

The complete Seniors All-Star roster is as follows: Bryce Babakhan, Hunter Bertolotti, Baryn Fowlkes, Braylon Fowlkes, Davin Gbur, Nathaniel Gilbertson, Izaak Gonzalez, Ezekiel Griffith, Jasper Hawes, Thomas Lundquist, Eli Rodriguez, Elijah Sanchez, Kamden Shamgochian, Kyle Sorensen, Drew Vercammen, Luke Stiles.

TALL Juniors follow with district championship

Five days after their senior colleagues, the TALL 10U squad raised the District 73 banner with a 6-1 victory over the Los Banos Little Leaguers. It was a rematch of the opening district game in which TALL won by  a 7-3 score.

The TALL team punched its ticket to the title game with a 15-2 win against Yosemite Little League two days prior. Before that, TALL had a 22-1 rout of Atwater Little League.

TALL 11s battle back to clinch title

The journey for TALL’s 11U All-Stars proved much longer than those of the organization's other age groups, but the end result proved to be the same.

Following a loss in the second round of its tournament, the 11s ran the table with three straight wins to claim the District 73 banner.

TALL began its tournament with a 19-3 victory over Los Banos Little League before suffering a 7-5 loss to the Atwater All-Stars. The team bounced back with an 11-0 win against Yosemite which would set up a must-win rematch with Atwater. TALL claimed a 6-2 victory to force a second and deciding game with Atwater in Coursegold, which it went on to win by a convincing 10-3 score.

TALL 10s celebrate D-73 win

Also having a rematch in its championship games was the TALL 10U All-Stars. The 10s clinched its District 73 championship with a 6-1 win over Los Banos Little League at Paul Cooper Field, five days after opening the tournament with a 7-3 against the LB All-Stars.

The 10s followed the opening win with a 22-1 thumping of Atwater Little League the next day and a 15-2 win against Yosemite Little League three days later to advance to the title game.
