The Turlock Community Concert Association is bringing acclaimed Irish tenor Anthony Kearns and his golden pipes to the Turlock stage for a one night performance Nov. 18 at the Turlock Community Theatre.

Kearns, a founding member of The Irish Tenors, recently released his debut solo album, “With a Song in My Heart,” a collection of 13 songs that span the spectrum from Ireland to Broadway, from well-loved melodies to popular classics, and from light-hearted comedy to the greatest tenor arias ever written.

“The album is,” according to Kearns, “a compilation of songs that have been my constant companions. I hope you enjoy what you hear, and find a song that touches your heart.”

Growing up in a family of six in Ireland, music was a part of Kearns’ life from an early start, but his venture into the music business didn’t begin in earnest until 1993 when he entered a national singing competition. Kearns won Search for a Tenor, which launched him on the road leading to The Irish Tenors, who burst upon the international music scene in 1998. The Irish Tenors hold the distinction of being one of the top grossing acts of all time for PBS, have five PBS specials and 10 CD’s to their credit, many achieving gold, platinum and double platinum status.

While the trio continues to tour annually, Kearns has met with continued success as a recitalist, with symphony orchestras and on the opera stage. Kearns has performed for Irish Prime Ministers, U.S. Presidents, and is a member of the Recording Academy.

Kearns’ show is set for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Turlock Community Theatre at 1574 E. Canal Dr. Single tickets for this event are $25, and $15 for students. Season tickets to the Turlock Community Concerts’ five-concert series are $60 for adults, $70 for one-adult family, and $130 for a two-adult family.  Season subscription includes reciprocal tickets at eight affiliated associations in the region.  For tickets or further information, call Linda Posegate at 668-1456 or Eric Julien at 667-5874 or visit www.turlockconcert.org
