The Turlock Concert Association will mark their 75th anniversary with a gala concert featuring music from student ensembles and soloists from the music department at California State University, Stanislaus.

The gala concert is set for 7:30 p.m. March 26 at the Turlock Community Theatre.

Under the direction of the university’s music professors, the student musicians will be performing a selection of music that are the creations of women composers.

“Cal State has been very good to us in the past and they have an excellent music department,” said TCA President Eric Julien.

The Turlock Concert Association is a, not-for-profit organization that strives to enrich the community by bringing a selection of entertainers to town. Typically, TCA hosts five concerts during their season, along with underwriting several free concerts and educational sessions for the area’s youth.

The Turlock Concert Association, formerly known as the Turlock Community Concert Association, was formed in collaboration with the national organization of Community Concerts of America in 1940. Some of the first season subscriptions were $3.50 and gained patrons entrance to three shows.

The organization is funded by annual season-ticket subscription sales, supplemented by generous donations from local sponsors. There is no paid staff, and the board of directors consists entirely of volunteers.

“It’s 75 years later and we’re still here,” Julien said. “We’ve been bringing music from around the world and across the nation. Generally, we bring in people who are not necessarily known names, but they are incredibly talented.”

Tickets for the gala concert range from $8 to $12 and are available at http://www.turlockconcert.org/ and https://www.csustan.edu/music/music-events.
