The Turlock Community Theatre is bringing Craig Wayne Boyd, the Season 7 winner of the popular reality-based singing competition show “The Voice” on NBC to town for a special one-night performance.

The show is set for 7:30 p.m. March 10 and tickets are currently available.

Boyd first came to national attention when he wowed the judges and audiences alike on “The Voice” during season 7 in 2014. Ending up on Blake Shelton's team, Boyd's singing voice, playing, and easy musical versatility made him a fan favorite, and eventually made him the overall winner.

Growing up in the Dallas, Texas suburb of Mesquite, Boyd began singing and playing guitar at the young age of four. He was drawn to gospel and country, and was active in his church choir, eventually becoming its director. He moved to Nashville at the age of 25 to try for his dream of a career in the music business in the early 2000s, and soon had a publishing deal with EMI.

Boyd spent years performing at local gigs and national support touring, but was considering leaving his musical ambitions behind because of a lack of progress. Then came his audition for “The Voice” and everything changed. The performer recently experienced a country music right of passage when he performed at the Grand Ole Opry.

Tickets range from $26 to $36 and are available online at turlocktheatre.org or by calling the box office at 668-1169.
