TPD

A security guard was assaulted with a gel pen when he confronted a woman causing a disturbance in a business park.

Turlock Police officers were called to the 2900 block of Geer Road at approximately 10:54 p.m. Friday and found a security guard restraining a woman, later identified as Valerie Mayoral-Lawler, a 43 year old out of Riverbank. A witness told police that when the security guard confronted Mayoral-Lawler for a causing a disturbance on the business property, she got very aggressive and started to swing at the guard.

The witness told police she saw the woman do a stabbing motion towards the security guard with one hand but that she was not able to see if she had anything in her hand. The security guard then took down the woman and held her down until police arrived.

As officers spoke to the victim, it was determined that Mayoral-Lawler attempted to use a gel pen to “stab” the victim. Mayoral-Lawler sustained an injury during the altercation with the security guard.

Police discovered Mayoral-Lawler was on probation out of Merced County and she was arrested and booked for assault with a deadly weapon and probation violation.
