Video surveillance from a business near the scene of a shooting in Modesto led Stanislaus County Sheriff’s detectives to arrest a Turlock man as the suspected shooter.

Michael Arrizon, 28, of Turlock was arrested on attempted murder charges related to a shooting which took place on Sunday.

Around 8:40 p.m. Sunday patrol deputies were dispatched to a report of a person shot.  A crime scene was located near W. Hatch Road and Cascade Avenue in Modesto.

The victim had suffered a grazing gunshot wound to the right-side of his head, requiring transport to a local area hospital for his injuries, said sheriff’s department spokesman Sgt. Luke Schwartz.

Through the course of follow-up investigation, detectives were soon able to identify the suspect’s vehicle and his true identity.

“A review of video surveillance from a local nearby business was instrumental to furthering our case,” Schwartz said.

Around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Arrizon was spotted driving near Herndon Avenue and Evans Road in Ceres.  A high-risk stop was conducted, and the driver was safely taken into custody without incident.

“The weapon believed used in the crime was recovered as well,” Schwartz said.

Arrizon was interviewed and later booked into the Public Safety Center on attempted murder charges.
