Local students from Modesto and Turlock were joined by Congressman Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) last Friday as they took tours of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.

Congressman Denham said that despite the government shutdown, he wanted to ensure that the students from his district were able to see the Capitol building during their 8th grade D.C. trip.

“The opportunity to meet with these two groups of bright students was an honor,” said Rep. Denham. “Shutdown shouldn’t prevent these kids from experiencing the Capitol building, and while many of the museums and D.C. landmarks are currently closed, I and my staff remain committed to helping visitors to Washington in any way we can.”

Eighth grade students from Vanguard Middle School in Modesto and Turlock Christian School – both part of California’s 10th district – were led by Rep. Denham, enjoying tours of the Crypt, the Capitol Rotunda and Statuary Hall.

Visitors to Washington interested in booking a tour through Rep. Denham’s office can call (202) 225-4540 or request a tour online at www.denham.house.gov.
