Students can win a new car just by going to school

Local high school students will have their names entered into a drawing each month they have perfect school attendance. In May, one name will be drawn to win a brand new car from Modesto Toyota (Photo contributed).
The Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE) is hoping to increase school attendance rates with a new campaign and horse-powered incentive.

Stanislaus State ranked among nation’s best colleges

Stanislaus State’s Academic Senate voted in favor of a bill that would require students enrolled in all 23 California State University campuses to take one 3-credit unit of any qualifying Ethnic Studies course before they graduate (Journal file photo).
