Walnut Elementary Education Center's Discovery Green and Gold teams had strong showings last Saturday at the Stanislaus County Office of Education's 2012 Elementary Science Olympiad.
Out of 21 teams the Gold squad finished 10th and the Green finished 14th. In total, Discovery scored 18 total medals.
Gold teammates Cameran Sherwood and Autumn Glidden earned first place in the "Catapult-Rubber band" competition. Green teammates Gabrielle Sotomayer and Eric Wilson won first place in "Crime Busters."

• Can Race- Discovery Gold- Joey Cardiel, Justin Belloli, 5th place
• Circuit Wizardry- Discovery Green- Justin Yniquez, Craig Malech, 2nd place

• Metric Estimania- Discovery Gold- Justin Belloli, Joey Cardiel, 5th place
• Starry Starry Night- Discovery Gold- Morgan Erickson, Macia Erickson, 4th place; Discovery Green- Casey Carr, Dion Skaria, 5th place
