Applicants wanted for grand jury
gavel

The Stanislaus County Superior Court is seeking volunteers to serve on the

2019-2020 Civil Grand Jury.

To qualify to serve, prospective jurors must meet the same qualifications as trial jurors.

The term of office is one year (July 1, 2019-June 30, 2020) and jurors must be available

at least 20 hours per month. The Civil Grand Jury's primary function is to act as the

public “watchdog” and provide objective, outside oversight of local governmental

agencies, including the operation of county and city government, school districts and

special districts.

All qualified applicants are interviewed. From those interviewed, the Presiding Judge of

the Superior Court will select up to 30 finalists, from which the 19-member Civil

Grand Jury panel and four alternates are selected.

Citizens interested in serving are encouraged to complete

an application on-line at www.stanct.org/grand-jury or contact the Grand Jury Office at 525-4252.

The deadline to submit an application is April 30.
