City offers free small business seminars

The City of Turlock will continue its commitment to assist local small businesses with two upcoming free seminars on e-commerce and media relations.

The e-commerce for small businesses workshop will be held in three seminars. The first seminar is set for 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. today and will be an introduction to e-commerce. Understanding the e-commerce landscape and e-commerce platforms and technologies will be covered.

The second seminar will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. April 24 and cover getting your business ready to sell online.  Developing an e-commerce strategy and building an online store will be covered in this seminar.

The third and final seminar will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. May 8 and will be a dive into the digital marketplace. Leveraging online marketing channels and managing customer relationships and feedback will be covered.

The workshop will be given by Kathryn Kim Ramos, Small Business Development Center Advisor and digital marketing consultant.

The media relations seminar titled “How to get your business on the news” will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. April 26 at the Carnegie Arts Center, 250 N. Broadway. This seminar will show businesses how to get free positive media coverage for their business or event, as well as provide insight on media relations for beginners.

Other topics to be covered include:

• Effective communication skills

• How to build relationships with journalists

• Crisis management training

• How to maximize media exposure

• Strategic public relations (pr) planning

Alan Sanchez will be the featured speaker. Sanchez of The Peoples Media Relations has over two decades of experience bringing positive news coverage to local small businesses, non-profits, and events in Northern California as a former reporter for “Good Day Sacramento” and KSBW Channel 8 News from Monterey.
