Delhi crash claims one life
emergency

A collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle in Delhi on Tuesday resulted in the death of one man.

The name of the deceased was not released pending next of kin notification. He was a 38-year-old Waterford resident.

The collision happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on W. Bradbury Road, near the intersection with Merced Avenue.

The Waterford man was riding a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle westbound on Bradbury Road, approaching the intersection with Merced Avenue at an estimated speed of 55 miles per hour, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A Ford Escape, driven by Ralph Saxton, 51, of Modesto, was headed east on Bradbury Road, also approaching the intersection. Saxton was traveling at an estimated 55 miles per hour, the CHP reported.

Saxton made a left turn, directly in front of the motorcycle, according to the CHP. The motorcyclist was unable to avoid the collision and the two vehicles collided. The impact caused the Ford to rollover and come to rest on the roof.

The first law enforcement to arrive at the scene found the motorcyclist laying on the road and not breathing. They began CPR until emergency personnel arrived and took over. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.

Saxton was not injured and was cooperating with investigators. It does not appear alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
