Holistic Expo celebrates its 20th anniversary
Holistic Expo

The 20th annual Turlock Holistic Expo will be held Sunday at the Assyrian-American Civic Club, 2618 N. Golden State Blvd., from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission to the event is $3. Parking is free.

“We typically have about 600 to 800 attendees,” said Gaylene Cornell, minister of the Spiritual Center of Turlock for the past 18 years and one off the event organizers. “We’re really making a big push this year; we’re hoping that even more people attend.”

The first 50 visitors to enter the event at 11 a.m. will receive a mystery gift bag, as will the first 50 to enter the event at 2 p.m.

“Each bag is filled with different items,” said Cornell. “It’s about a $30 to $40 value.”

Around 60 vendors will be on hand to sell their wares, which include crystals, essential oils, herbs, soaps, sprays, jewelry, clothing, and more.

“We have a lot of things going on in addition to the vendors,” said Cornell. “We’ll be having a raffle, and tickets are $1 each. We’ll also have psychics, astrologers, holistic healers, and tarot card readers.”

Visitors will also have a chance to have their auras photographed and read.

“The aura camera readings are always really popular,” said Cornell.

Guests can also attend up to five free seminars, the first beginning at 11:30 and the last at 2:30, on tarot, chakra, psychic readings, hypnosis, and the healing uses of cannabis and other plant medicine.

The expo serves as the primary fundraiser for the Spiritual Center of Turlock, 227 W. Canal Dr.

“We just got a new location as of Thursday,” said Cornell. “We finally got our certificate of occupancy.”

Services will be held every Sunday at the Spiritualist church.
“Our motto is that it’s a place where everyone is welcome,” said Cornell. “Whether you’re Christian or Buddhist or whatever, you’re welcome, as long as you don’t try to force your beliefs on other people.”

Coming in the spring, at the church location, will be a healing center, which will offer different healing modalities, and a retail shop that will offer crystals, oils, herbs, incense, books, and more.

For the past three years, when the event was held at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds, the Turlock Holistic Expo was named “Best Outdoor Event” by 209 Magazine, while Cornell was named its top holistic healer in 2024.
