There may be still be a few more days of school left in the academic year, but the City of Turlock is kicking off the summer season with a splash on Saturday.
The City of Turlock is hosting a Water Safey Day from 12 noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Columbia Pool. The event will include interactive safety stations and youth participants will have the opportunity to earn a free lifejacket (while supplies last). Attendees will learn valuable water safety skills and be able to enjoy a day at the pool. The Turlock Irrigation District is sponsoring the day so there is free admission to the pool for everyone.
New this year, the City is requiring all recreational swim participants to complete a waiver before getting into the pool. Families can sign up online ahead of time at: https://register.capturepoint.com/reg/index.cfm
Parents/guardians must attend with any participant under 18 to complete and sign the required forms. All waivers must be completed by someone 18 or older, either for themselves or on behalf of others.
Columbia Pool will also be open for recreational swim from 12 noon to 5 p.m. on Memorial Day (Monday). Cost is $3 for adults and $1 for children. All participants must have a completed waiver before entry.
One year ago, the newly renovated Columbia Pool reopened to the public. The brand-new Columbia Pool, at a cost of about $9.1 million, covers 6,822 square feet with a deep end that is just over 8 feet. It also features ADA-accessible ramps and a heating system. The renovation included new ADA compliant restrooms, concession stand and covered picnic areas on a revamped deck.
The pool is located at 600 Columbia Ave., Turlock.
