LIONS GIVE BACK

Turlock Lions Club members Conrad Renteria and Manuel Drumonde perused the toy aisles at Walmart Friday morning, searching for the perfect toys to purchase for Turlock Together’s annual toy drive. The Lions Club donated $800 to be used toward buying toys, and despite the donation being an annual occurrence, this year was the first that Lions Club members have physically gone into the store to pick out gifts. Toys are needed for about 1,500 families this year, said Drumonde, who also serves as a Turlock Together chairman.

“The Lions Club raises funds for things like this every year, and we put that money back into the community,” said Drumonde. “$800 is just a drop in the bucket for the number of children who need toys, but hopefully this can purchase a good amount.”

More toys are still needed before Turlock Together’s disbursement day on Dec. 23, and can be dropped off at any of the organization’s blue barrels around town.
