Offline Comedy launches three-city series in Turlock
Offline Comedy

Offline Comedy will be hosting a three-city stand-up comedy series, which gets underway on June 19 in Turlock.

Offline Comedy, owned by comedian and former Turlock City Councilmember Andrew Nosrati, is known for its sometimes quirky venues. Fans are made aware of the date and time of the show, and the city in which it will be held, but the details for the precise location are kept secret until the day of the event.

Fans receive an email with the location, which, in the past, have included a barbershop, bookstore, and even a laundromat.

“This is the first time that we’ll be doing a three-city series in the Central Valley,” said Nosrati. “We’ll be featuring the same headliner each night, but the undercards will be different for each show.”

After the Turlock show, slated to get underway at 8 p.m., the festivities will head to Merced for the June 20 performance, then back up Highway 99 to Modesto for the finale on June 21.

The lineups feature a blend of local talent and touring club comedians — regularly seen at the venues and festivals across the country.

“The Modesto show will be one of the most unique comedy experiences we’ve ever created,” said Nosrati. “We pride ourselves on taking comedy to unconventional places, and this landmark will add a special touch to the experience.”

Here’s a hint: Major League Baseball Hall-of-Famers Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Yogi Berra, and Willie McCovey all were caught in the “Webb” of this iconic Modesto landmark.

“Producing a three-city run across Turlock, Merced and Modesto is a major milestone for us,” said Nosrati, who has been producing Offline Comedy shows for two years. “We’re doing this because it allows us to expand our access to a larger pool of comedians from markets that wouldn’t typically visit our communities. And we’re excited to bring high-quality comedy to these underrepresented areas while creating a one-of-a-kind experience for our audiences.

The “offline” in Offline Comedy comes from the request that audience members turn off their phones — better yet, leave them at home — to be undistracted and fully present in the comedic setting.
