Pedestrian struck, killed by train

A man on the railroad tracks in Turlock wearing all black was struck by a train early Monday morning and died as a result, the Turlock Police Department reported.

The man, whose name and hometown have not been released, was 41 years old, according to the police department.

The incident was reported to the police department at 2:37 a.m. Monday at the intersection of N. Olive Avenue and N. First Street in Turlock. In addition to TPD, medical units from the Turlock Fire Department and AMR also responded.

The train was traveling northbound through town and hit the victim who was on the tracks wearing all black. 

The train was stopped for approximately one and a half hours, blocking intersections from W. Canal to W. F Street, while officers were investigating the scene.
