History of Business: For the first time since 2020, Pizza Factory is back in Turlock, this time at a new location.
On Sept. 28, Luis Marquez and Sandy Perez opened the doors of the new Pizza Factory at 1865 Countryside Dr., the former home of Miranda’s Thrift Shop.
“Pizza Factory has continued to grow over the years because of our dedicated fans and franchisees like Luis and Sandy,” said MJ Riva, CEO of Pizza Factory. “It’s always rewarding to see existing fans continue to show interest in our brand, and it is especially exciting for Pizza Factory to be reentering the Turlock community… I’m confident their dedication to community initiatives and seamless approach to operations will lead to success at this new location.”
The couple, who are originally from Merced, had been looking for a place to franchise a restaurant for some time now. They decided to go into the pizza business because of their love for the food and Perez’s experience with working at another Pizza Factory franchise. As for the reason why they came to Turlock to pursue their endeavors, it was because of the sense of community they felt whenever visiting.
“We wanted to go north of Atwater, and that left us with either Livingston or Turlock, but with Turlock having already had a Pizza Factory and them being familiar with it, and the strong community, Turlock was the choice. We love it here,” Marquez said. “I like pizza places. As a coach, having your end of the year parties at a pizza place is classic. I always wanted to be on the other side. When we decided on doing a pizza place as our franchise, it was kind of a no-brainer to do Pizza Factory because it's a product that we’re familiar with and a product that we truly enjoy.”
Marquez and Perez hope that the new location can serve as a place for community members to gather for events and good times.
“We’re hoping to bring in crowds for fundraisers, for when teams have their end of the year team parties and things like that. We have four TVs in here that will have all the games on, so it really is a cool, family hangout place. It’s a place to have a good time and enjoy some good food,” Marquez said.
While pizza is in their name, the restaurant offers a selection of sandwiches, pasta, wings, salads, calzones and more.
