Turlock will soon become much sweeter, as See’s Candies gears up to open on Thursday in the Monte Vista Crossings shopping center.

The new Turlock See’s chocolate shop is only a seasonal store, meaning it will only remain open during the holiday season. Offering some of See’s timeless favorite old time candies such as boxed chocolates, peanut brittle, nuts and chews, truffles, lollypops and various sugar free options, the shop is sure to be a hit with Turlock’s holiday shoppers.

“I am a huge See’s Candies fan,” said Turlock resident Danielle Mingua-Lopstain, a student at California State University, Stanislaus. “Even though I’m sad the shop will only be here for the holidays, I am still so thrilled that during that time I will be able to just drive down the street and buy some amazing chocolate.”

As one of America’s favorite candy stores, See’s Candies has been making delicious, preservative-free candies for over 90 years. Still using original homemade recipes created by Mary See in 1921, the company now has over 100 different candies and chocolates.

Today, the company has over 200 candy shops across the nation and continues to expand their online store.  Their iconic black-and-white checkered shops, which were originally modeled after Mary See’s home kitchen, continue to be one of California’s favorite candy stores.

“This will be a temporary shop, open for the holidays,” said See’s Candies spokesperson Abbey Scalia. “The shop will carry most boxed candies – the exception is that because this is a temporary location, it doesn’t have a candy counter, so no individual pieces or custom mix boxes are sold.”

Hiring for the temporary shop is already completed, employing six people in total. According to Scalia, the shop will not have a grand opening event.

“There will not be any grand opening events, but feel free to stop by and get some delicious chocolates,” said Scalia. “Turlock was chosen due to years of customer feedback and excitement for See’s to open in the community.”

The Turlock See’s Candies Chocolate Shop is set to open on Thursday, and will remain open until Dec. 24.The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, located at 2802 W. Monte Vista Avenue, next to Famous Footwear.
