Silva Injury Law of Turlock is taking measures to ensure that New Year’s Eve partygoers ring in 2023 with a safe ride home through their NYE Sober Rides Campaign. The campaign offers free rideshares for those who have consumed alcohol on New Year’s Eve throughout the Turlock metropolitan area.

“A lot of cases I end up getting are when somebody is badly impacted by a drunk driver. I represent people who were hurt by that bad decision,” said Attorney Michael Silva. “From my understanding, these holidays seem to be the prime time for these types of accidents to occur and I want to do my part in my community to help people make a different decision.”

During the New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day holiday in 2020, 56 people were killed in crashes statewide. During that same 78-hour period, CHP officers made 709 arrests for driving under the influence throughout California.

To be eligible for the Sober Rides Uber, Lyft, or cab rideshare reimbursement, participants must be of legal drinking age (21) and rides must be taken between 5 p.m. Dec. 31 and 10 a.m. Jan. 1. The reimbursement offer is only valid for one, one-way ride to a safe destination and is limit to one reimbursement per household. Additionally, there is a maximum rideshare value of $25, including a maximum tip of 10%.

Silva Injury Law adds that there is a limit of 60 rideshare reimbursements and encourages those interested to submit an application as soon as possible. Participants must submit the application, which consists of a receipt copy and a photo ID, and mail it to the company’s office within 10 business days.
