Families looking to beat the heat this summer season can cool off at the City of Turlock’s two aquatic playgrounds, or go for a dip in the newly renovated Columbia Pool.
Turlock’s two aquatic playgrounds are located at 600 Columbia and 501 N. Broadway. The parks are open from noon to 7 p.m. seven days per week. Mobile aquatic chairs are available upon request by calling 209-668-5594 in advance.
The new and improved Columbia Pool had its official grand reopening on May 17 and covers 6,822 square feet with a deep end that is just over 8 feet. It also features ADA-accessible ramps, and a heating system. The renovation included new ADA compliant restrooms, concession stand, and covered picnic areas on a revamped deck.
“It feels like our neighborhood is back, and somebody needs to pinch me because I still can’t believe it’s actually happening,” said Councilmember Rebecka Monez during the reopening ceremony in May. “This facility definitely provides a place for our families to gather. We’ll have birthday parties here, family reunions, get-togethers, things that families do on the weekends.”
The Columbia Pool is open for recreational swim from noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, and starting Monday, it will be open from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday for open swim.
Starting Monday, the Pitman High Pool will be open for recreational swim from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday until July 31. The Turlock High Pool will be open for recreational swim from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. only from June 9-12.
Cost for entry to any of the pools in Turlock is $3 for adults and $1 for youth. Children must be at least 8 years old to get in without an adult.
Swim lessons are also being hosted at Pitman High School and Columbia Pool this summer. For more information on swim lessons, visit https://www.cityofturlock.org/recreation/aquaticsswimming/
