The Central Valley Brass, formed in 1981 by the late Ernie Bucio, will be performing a concert at the Gottschalk Music Center’s recital hall, at 1502 E St., Modesto on Nov. 5.
The concert will begin at 3 p.m., with doors opening at 2:30 p.m.
The quintet consists of Robert Stone, on trumpet; David Livingston, on trumpet; Karen Bucio, on horn; Byron Yerzy, on trombone; and Keith Baltz, on tuba.
The centerpiece of the concert will be a composition by Robert Stone. The piece is entitled “Childhood Impressions” and consists of three movements: Toy Soldier’s March; The Ballerina’s Waltz; and The Juggler’s Act.
“It started as a short piece of piano music, which ultimately expanded into three movements for brass quintet,” Stone said. “They each are harmonized traditionally with some mild dissonances but change key center quite often.”
The concert will end with an arrangement honoring Veterans, in anticipation of Veteran’s Day.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors and will be available at the door.
