Sourdough Slim, one of the area’s most beloved Western entertainers, is performing at the West Side Theatre Saturday.

The show will feature the yodeling cowboy, Slim, who will be joined by the fiddle and bass duo of Cactus Bob and Prairie Flower.

Slim is known for mingling his singing with plenty of tall-tales and cowboy lore. He also is an accomplished accordion and harmonica player, and a guitarist. His shows are akin to the Will Rogers Follies of yesterday.

Slim was born as Rick Crowder in Hollywood, where he grew up on the family cattle ranch, but as he says, he realized at a young age he was a cowboy meant for the stage and not the range. He earned the nickname Slim while performing with various Western bands in the 1970s and 80s. In 1988 he branched out on his own and the persona of Sourdough Slim was born.

Slim has performed at a wide range of venues, from cowboy poetry shows to Carnegie Hall in New York.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show will start at 8 p.m.
