Dan Souza peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at the age of 69 at his home in Tracy surrounded by loving family. Born October 4, 1941 in Gustine, CA to Manuel and Minnie Souza. Though he lived as a dedicated Tracyite for the past 57 years.

He met the love of his life Betty Jean Mello at the tender age of 14 at the Gustine Festa, where she was Holy Ghost queen. They would marry July 8, 1963 and have four children.

For 24 years Dan was a dedicated, loyal employee in the shipping department at Leprino Foods before retiring in 2000.

In addition to his avid love for golf and classic cars, Dan was a member of the Manteca Men’s Golf Club and Las Positas Golf Club for many years, and was also very passionate about shooting pool.

He was a family man who devoted his time to his children. Dan was a pack leader of Troop 505, as well as an assistant coach to his daughters’ softball teams and so

much more. Dan will be remembered for his love of golfing, classic cars and favorite destinations Disneyland and Monterey, but most importantly for his love of family and friends.

Dan was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years Betty Souza; his parents Manuel and Minnie Souza; a brother, Manuel Souza. He is survived by his son, Dan Souza, Jr. and his wife Maria of Manteca; daughter, Kim Souza, her children Danny and David Souza; daughter, Kristin Maciel and her husband Bob, their children Michael, Chad and Ellie Maciel; daughter, Kely Souza and her children Kaitlyn and Mason Souza-Dunne; all of Tracy. A Sister, Kathy Cravins of Redwood City; a sister-in-law, Carmen Silva and her husband Tony of Los Banos; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday, July 25, from 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. and Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Avenue, Tracy, CA. A mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, July 26 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 W. Eaton Avenue, Tracy, CA. His final resting-place will be at Tracy Public Cemetery, 600 E. Schulte Road, Tracy, CA.
