Dorothy Elizabeth Taylor went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 9. She was born to the late John and Nina Swanson in Stockton, Calif. She
moved to Turlock at the age of 14. She went to Turlock Schools, Hawthorne and Lowell Elementary and Turlock High School. She married Albert Taylor in 1938. Dorothy worked at Christofferson Turkey Plant and the Hume Cannery. She then went to nursing school and became an LVN after working 32 years.
Dorothy was very active in her church of Turlock Christian Life Center. She lived her life serving the Lord and also was a member in the Quilt Guild club. For many years she enjoyed making quilts, and she made quilts for her children, grandchildren and many friends. Dorothy made all the quilts by hand. She also volunteered at the Emanuel Hospital Thrift Store.
Survivors include daughter Lorraine Franklin (Dennis), John Taylor, and a sister Ruth Amsbaugh, all of Turlock. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and several great great-grandchildren, also by many nieces and nephews. Dorothy is preceded in death by her loving husband Albert, and one daughter Gloria Saxbury.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 15 at Allen Mortuary. Services will be held at Turlock Christian Life Center, 1660 Arbor Way in
Turlock on Feb. 16, 2010 at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions in memory of Dorothy Taylor can be made at Turlock Regional Cancer Center located at 1051 East Tuolumne Road in Turlock.
