Effie G. Hall passed away Aug. 23, 2010 in Sweet Home, Ore. She was born in Centralia, Wash. to Robert and Effie McElroy. She moved to San Francisco in 1928, where she attended school. She met and married Ira “Tye” Holly in 1945. They moved to Lindsay in 1946. In 1951 they then moved to Hughson, where they farmed peach trees. From there they moved to Stevinson where Tye planted and raised almond trees for Stevinson Corporation until his death in 1985. She married Billy Joe Hall in 1988, and shortly after they moved to Oregon.
Effie loved to cook and decorate cakes for any occasion. She compiled a cookbook for each of her family members to enjoy. Effie spent years researching her family tree and passing along all the information to her family.
She is survived by her sons, Robert (Helen) Holly of Turlock, Michael (Tina) Holly of Oregon and son-in-law, Ed Rawlings of Washington; grandchildren, Eric (Jennifer) Holly, Amanda (Kevin) Dunn, Mike (Pam) Holly, Tim (Linda) Holly, Greg (Cindy) Rawlings and Cindy (Troy) Harris; and great grandchildren, Alyssa, Natalie and Emma Holly, Brittany (Ryan), Tyler, Colton, Keegan, Russell and Huston Holly, Jacob, Allyson and Kimberlee Rawlings and Devin and Carson Harris.
She was preceded in death by daughter, Joan Rawlings; and great granddaughter, Trista Holly.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2 with a chapel service to be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 3, both at Lakewood Funeral Home, 900 Santa Fe, Hughson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ceres Firefighters, P.O. Box 310, Ceres, CA 95307.
