Visitation will be held for Kuldip Uppal, 67, of Turlock, from noon to 5 p.m. on Sept. 5 at Allen Mortuary in Turlock. A funeral service will be held at noon on Sept. 6, also at Allen Mortuary. Cremation will follow at 2 p.m. She passed away on Aug. 30, 2009, at Emanuel Medical Center with her family at her side.
Kuldip was born in Bhullar, India to Joginder Singh and Swarn Kaur Bhullar in 1941. Kuldip immigrated to the United Stated in 1979, and settled in Turlock with her family in 1980. Kuldip took great pride in her family. Spending time with them was one of her priorities in life. As her children started their own families, and she became a grandmother, Kuldip greatly enjoyed spoiling them, and lavishing them with gifts. The holidays, especially birthdays, brought her great joy, as this was one of the few occasions her entire family would gather together. Kuldip was a true caretaker at heart. There was not a person she would not extend her kindness to. To her, everyone was created equal in God’s eyes, and that’s how she treated people, even strangers. Kuldip enjoyed sewing, and would often sew clothing for her children. Later in life, she became an avid gardener. She tended to a large garden in the back yard, and lavished her home in fresh flowers that she nurtured. She also cared for gold fish in a fresh water fish tank. Kuldip was an amazing cook. Her love and giving spirit will be greatly missed.
Kuldip is survived by her husband, Lachhman Singh Uppal of Turlock; children, Onkar S. Uppal of Turlock, Pavittar “Bubbie” K. Samrao of Saratoga, Calif. and Dr. Rajvir K. Uppal of Sacramento; siblings, Gurdeve K. Thakhar of England and Parmjit S. Bhullar of Fresno; and grandchildren, “Amy” Amrita K Uppal, Navdeep S. Uppal, Nicole Samrao, Johar Samrao, Mohini Rye and Mayher Uppal-Rye. Please share your memories and condolences at www.allenmortuary.com.
